My solo show ‘To See the Summer Sky’ starts today at 2pm at Smithy Gallery, 74 Glasgow Road, Blanefield, Glasgow, G63 9HX
I visited Thompson’s Marylebone this week where I’m exhibiting work in September. Then I almost bumped into Howard from ‘Take That’ coming out of the cafe I was going in to! I also visited http://www.panterandhall.com where I saw my paintings exhibited in their Scottish show.
I had a bad day on Tuesday struggling with this new idea. Instead of ripping the disastrous painting from the board and relegating it to the bin I persevered, hoping to at least learn something new from the experience. I think I have managed to capture something of the warmth and freshness of the summer in France. I liked the bright white flowers against the shadows of the old wall. I’m featuring my new favourite ‘brush’!
Corrymella sold all 4 of my paintings last night at the PV of her Scottish exhibition. Show runs until 29 November.
Today I delivered 10 paintings and 3 framed prints for the forthcoming Edinburgh Art Fair. I had to load up the campervan as there were so many pieces including 2 very large ones. The fair starts on the 14 November, so only 3 weeks to go! I just received the latest edition of Scottish Art Scene online magazine, which is dedicated to the Fair. It’s an interesting read, and there’s a wee interview with me on page 20.
For the last 2 days I’ve been working on some lovely dahlias: nearly black, magenta and a pinkish blue pom pom. You can see images of work-in-progress on my Facebook artist page: Jenny Matthews Artist
